With a waning smile, his story began
A fool from one to ten, no numbers in between
He lived a life of fortunes and told us of our dreams
Slowly he removed his cap and smoothed his long red cape
He said, "I've told kings of mountains of gold
and lovers doomed by fate."
Unwarily I shifted beneath his concerned eye
Not wanting to be bothered with this mutant's realm of lies
A simmer of a smile crossed his lips
Saying, "You will know it's true,
I've traveled far too many miles
To walk away from you."
Shifting glassy eyes to the sky
He pointed to a star
"I've followed this forever
Now my journey's come this far."
