It is with much excitement that we announce the re-issue of Leger de Main's The Concept of Our Reality and Second First Impression. These early PMM releases have been out of print for several years and the band wanted to make these recordings once again available. But only under one condition -- that everything receive an immense quality upgrade. Not content to just re-issue the CDs, the band went to studio whiz John Trevethan to re-mix and re-master both CDs from the original multi-track masters. John is an old-school prog-head and has worked with bands like October Project, Queensryche, Robert Fripp and Echolyn and knows exactly how to get a great sounding progrock mix. These Leger de Main songs simply can not sound any better than they do now. As a "thank you" to fans, LDM chose to include two recently recorded acoustic bonus tracks for "Concept" too. These tracks highlight the gentle side of Melissa's voice and lets her vocals shine bright here. Also a brand new state-of-the-art graphic design completes the Leger de Main package and gives it a stunning visual vibe. And, as if that weren't enough, both CDs are packaged together as a 2-CD set and is being sold at PMM at a single CD price. If you've been wanting to check these out-of-print titles out or just crave a vastly superior sonic experience than the original releases, then check these re-issues out now. You won't be disappointed.
July 2005: The two Leger de Main albums Concept of Our Reality and Second First Impression have been re-mixed, re-mastered, and re-released as A Lasting Impression, and this compilation includes two bonus tracks. Order here!
By popular demand, bonus material is now planned for the Leger de Main Concept Of Our Reality CD re-issue for 2005. When the fans speak directly to us we certainly do our best to listen and act upon their wishes!
As earlier announced on this site, the first Leger de Main CD will be re-issued in early 2005 and will feature a much (and I do mean MUCH!) improved sound quality after being completely re-mixed and re-mastered. There is new artwork that is quite stunning to add to the quality of the package. This is the 10 year anniversary of the original release in 1995 and we're looking forward to getting it out to you.
However, as seems customary these days, everyone was e-mailing us to ask what the bonus material would be on the re-issue. We we're apologetic but answered by simply stating that we had nothing left over from the original LDM sessions. As word of the re-issue spread and the volume of inquiries increased it became obvious that bonus tracks were definitely something the LDM fans wanted.
Well, after all the response and suggestions from you, the members of Leger de Main have decided to record acoustic versions of two tracks from "...Concept" and add them as bonus tracks as a sincere "Thank You" for all of your support and interest. The prog community has always been very supportive of Leger de Main and especially seem to enjoy that first CD. It would be a shame if we were unable to deliver a re-issue that was perfect for the prog enthusiast.
To that end, it has been set into motion that the members of LDM will begin recording acoustic based versions of their songs, "Immobile Time" and "Crystal Fortune", the latter being the favorite track for many who originally bought the CD back in '95, for the re-issue. All efforts will be made to make the acoustic versions unique and different from the originals to warrant their inclusion on the re-issue. They WILL NOT just be note-for-note renditions in an acoustic setting. Tempos, melody and arrangement will be adjusted for maximum impact and percussion will be more sparse and less intrusive than a trap set might be for this purpose.
We here at PMM thank you for all of the enthusiasm you've shown for the Leger de Main re-issue and we hope you enjoy the bonus tracks when the CD is released in 2005. We would have never even talked about this possibility if you, the prog-fan, had not suggested it. Thanks for getting involved!
Mythologic, who are set to release their first CD in Fall of 2003, are putting the finishing touches on the tracking for the debut CD. Mythologic play a complex form of progressive hard rock and combines the members of Leger de Main with Steve Matusik, the guitarist / songwriter of Andeavor. As you'd expect, elements of both bands are prominent but the soaring, melodic vocals of Melissa Blair are of special note here. It has been more than five years since Melissa has written lyrics or vocal lines for a project so it is a very welcome return. Her style remains true to her original vision but with a more mature and refined sound. Her contributions are certainly a highlight and it is good to hear her in action again.
Mixing is set to begin this summer and the tentative release is for fall of 2003.
Next up for PMM is a reissue of the first Leger de Main release, Concept of Our Reality. This CD has been out of print for awhile and has always cried out for a remix. PMM has teamed up with noted mix engineer John Trevethan (Echolyn, Grey Eye Glances, Queensryche) to offer up an audiophile sounding remix. Check out John's site at www.playerie.com
Since its release in 1995, Concept of Our Reality has been PMM's most well received effort and has continued to sell consistently to the present day. In 2002, we sold the last copy of the third pressing of the original release to our buddies at Kinesis Inc. This forced LDM to talk of another pressing of the original or contemplate a complete overhaul of the album. LDM opted for the latter.
Since 1995, many technological advances in the audio industry have come along and in hindsight many recordings can benifit from a touch-up in a Pro-Tools equipped studio. In addition, a more experienced set of ears also come in handy when they present themselves. This is exactly what is happening with the re-mix of Concept of Our Reality.
Leger de Main began discussions with mixing and mastering engineer John Trevethan in late 2002 about working on a remix of the LDM material. John has worked on projects for Echolyn (As the World), Queensryche (Hear in the Now Frontier) and Grey Eye Glances (Eventide) as well as putting time in alongside noted producers Peter Collins and Glenn Rosenstein. As if his credits weren't enough to convince, John is also a huge old-school prog-head! This sealed the deal and mixing began in January.
So far three songs have been completed and they all sound stellar! If you are a fan of the first LDM cd but always wished the sonics were a bit more competitive with major label output, then this re-release is a must have. John has done such a great job in bringing out the detail and clarity of this complex, layered music. Every note is now easily discernable from the instrumentalists, the vocal carries the music in a way that was never previously acheived and the overall mix holds together with a perfect blend.
As if this weren't enough, PMM has also decided to update the graphics and packaging that accompany the incredible sounding mix. It seems as though talent runs in this family,...Brenda Trevethan, the graphics design side of Art of the Groove Studios, has created a stunning, original piece of artwork to further enhance the reissue of Concept of Our Reality Much like John has updated the audio for the CD, Brenda has taken the original cover idea from the first release and put a hyper modern spin on it. The result is a beautiful, color drenched, and very eye-catching CD package. We're certain the prog-rock community will dig it!
